NMMU University F1 Outdoor Karting recently completed the final training and assessment for some of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University students that will be competing in the Formula Student international competition in Germany. The formula one replica car built at the university to compete amongst students from all over the world.

The Formula one car was designed and built at NMMU by the students as part of the competition that will be based on design, performance etc. F1 Outdoor Karting over the past few years have been involved with NMMU to simulate formula one endurance events to give students the opportunity to experience team work, competition pit stops and hone their driving skills.

Final training and assessment was done just before the students left for Hockenheim this week, each competitor was assessed on driving skills, consistency and ability to read the circuit to gain maximum performance.

Each student was then given the opportunity to drive a full race prepared 125 Rok kart supplied by F1 Outdoor karting to experience the ultimate in acceleration, braking and kart control in preparation for what we hope will be a good result to place Nelson Mandela Bay and South Africa on the map.
